USCHO (on its pwr page) has ASTERISKS by UND UMD MICH RPI and Holy Cross. The note says, "If a team defeats a weak opponent, it is possible for its RPI to go down despite the win. Starting in 2003-04, if this happens in a team's conference tournament, that game can be thrown out of the RPI calculation for that team. Any team where this has occured has been noted below." Is/are that/those game(s) thrown out of ALL the comparisons, or only the RPI calculation? It seems to me that other PWR criteria, most notably record against common opponents, could change based on how this is handled. For example, North Dakota went 4-0 against michigan tech during the season and 2-0 against them in the playoffs, but those 2 games might be thrown out. Does that impact the common opponent value enough to flip an individual comparison? /"\ ASCII Ribbon charlie shub \ / Campaign Against University of Colorado at Colorado Springs X HTML in e-mail [log in to unmask] (719) 262-3492 / \ and news http://cs.uccs.edu/~cdash (fax) 262-3369
