Well I for one think that the thunderstix
are obnoxious. It reminds me of when my son played youth hockey and some
(other team’s) parents would bring milk jugs with coins inside them that
they would shake, very loudly. Nothing beats 5000 voices cheering! And
the thunderstix sound like loud static when you’re watching on
television. Obnoxious. Very.
I have gone to a lot of hockey games at the
Alfond over the years. I have noticed that the non-season ticket
sections were generally the loudest and most excited fans. The times that
I sat in the season ticket sections it seemed like they were often very laid
back and acted almost like they were watching on television. Coming late,
leaving in the middle of the game…….
When my son and I would go we would sit up
in 000 up beside the band and it was rowdy! We didn’t get to go to
a game that often and so it was really exciting when we went! We didn’t
miss a minute of any game we ever went to. I do think that having the
band at the end of the rink and having the students section there is a great
idea. But that’s where 90% of the noise and fan support comes from.
I have been a long-time advocate of LESS
season ticket seats and more excited fan seats. If you want a more
excited crowd open up more seating for excited fans. I’ll go
and I’ll be yelling and cheering most of the game!
Go Blue!!! Beat BU!!!!

i can't see how the thundersti(cks)(x) will hurt...the place can get
quiet at times, even against unh...also, in the 4 years i spent in the balcony
the only things that were thrown down onto the ice were hats...and that idiot
who threw his sieve helmet down on the ice when lawson got the hat trick
against northeastern last season...oops, nothing half a roll of ducktape won't
fix...either way i'm just ready for unh to show up...anyone have riot gear? you
know they like to riot at the drop of a hat...

Yeah, CSTV is great, Channel 610 on DirecTV, and yet another reason why I am glad I made the switch from cable, even if the only local channel I can get is Channel 5, and that is not very clear.
I have to question the logic of giving out Thunderstix in the Alfond.
1. We don't need help making noise aginst UNH.
2. I can all but guarantee you that there will be Thunderstix on the ice from the balcony, and none of us want that. This is not an invitation to bash anyone here, but rather, given how crowded it is uo there, one or more is bound to float down, even if by accident. Football = yes, Basketball = sure, Hockey = WHY??
I hope they do something in the league office regarding the brawl last weekend, in particular the incident from the UMass bench, but I have a hard time expecting anything to happen.
