I also saw the list. Being out in Michigan I can definatly testify that Yost is a very hostile enviorment to play in. I was at our game down there in the playoffs last year plus a few just regular CCHA games and it definatly lives up to it's #1 billing. Maine also definatly deserves it's # 3 spot. I've been to other rinks out in the midwest (Miami OH, Notre Dame, Michigan State..) and none of them come close to Yost or Alfond. Having never been to Cornell I can't comment on that but I can definatly say that Yost and Alfond are heads above other rinks i've been too out here, and other hockey east rinks as well.

GO MAINE!

>This reminds me of a conversation I had with HE/ECAC ref Scott Hansen. He's kind of a local guy in our paper's circulation area, and we did a story on him working the Olympics a few years back. Anyway, he told me his favorite places to ref are Maine and Cornell. Because the ECAC and HE held him in high regard, he could pretty much set his schedule, or at least have a say in which venues to go to. And he said he always tried to make it to Maine once a year because he just loved the Alfond and the atmosphere. Said Maine and Cornell easily were the two best places with the best/intimidating crowds to see a game out East. What struck me was that he told me this before I told him I went to UMaine ... On a side note, I remember going to Lively at Snively many moons ago and that place was pretty awesome. As a kid, I remember I fell off the bleachers once because the fans were shaking them so hard. It was cold inside that "arena". The bleachers were more suited for a high school gym!

Maine has 2 home rinks in Mass.... at least as far as number of fans, Merrimack and Northeastern usually draws more Maine fans than home fans... (of course the DOghouse is loud, but it is high up, and as long as they are not throwing things they are not so bad)
