There are still 44 Maine public libraries that have not submitted their annual reports that were due April 1st. I can't compile my data for statistics and I cannot complete the report I have to send to the federal government until these reports are submitted (either in paper format or electronically). I have sent melibs messages, direct email messages and postcards to remind people that the report is due. I have also tried to stress how valuable these reports are on the national, state and local levels, but for some reason, I am not reaching all of you or I'm sure your reports would be in by now. Perhaps some library directors out there who find the annual reports an invaluable resource could offer some encouragement and give examples of how they have used the statistics from these reports?? I will be posting a list next week of those libraries that have not submitted a report. Thank you to all those library directors and/or library staff who have gotten their reports in. I understand how valuable your time is and how difficult it is sometimes to complete one more task. I'm sure no one looks at this 7-page report and jumps for joy, but please know that any information you provide is extremely helpful. Your support and cooperation is greatly appreciated by myself and your library peers. If you have any questions or need any assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me.
