A quick correction on the Contest #1 results. I overlooked the CHA entry for the CHODR rating and for Robin Lock. Both scored 28 points in the CHA tournament, bringing CHODR's overall score to 201 points and Robin's to 185. With the conference tournaments fading into history, it's time to announce the winners of the Pick the Post-Season Tournaments contests. For Contest #2, which scores all rounds the same, the overall winner is... Dave Belfiori with a total of 39 points, two points ahead of runners-up Iyer Venkatesan, James Edwards, and David Morgenstern. As for the individual conference winners... The ECAC saw David Morgenstern, the CHODR rating, James Edwards, and Jay Kryzston finish in a four-way tie with eight points each. David Morgenstern won the first tiebreaker (championship-game score prediction), as his predicted score was only one point off the actual result. There were eight entries tied atop Hockey East with 7 points each: Nathan Hampton, Andy Weise, the CHODR rating, James Edwards, Iyer Venkatesan, Robin Lock, Dave Belfiori, and Christian Danish. The first tiebreaker went to Nathan Hampton, who was only one point off the actual championship-game score. The CCHA race was the only one that didn't require a tiebreaker, as Dave Belfiori finished alone in first place with 10 points. Andy Weise, Matt Carberry, and I finished in a three-way tie in the WCHA. Andy Weise took the crown on the second tiebreaker, total goals scored in the tournament. The MAAC came down to a tie between William Sangrey and Steve Syrett, with William Sangrey winning the second tiebreaker. The CHA saw a ten-way tie among Matt Sullivan, Craig Powers, Charlie Shub, Iyer Venkatesan, Matt Carberry, Craig Roberts, Dave Belfiori, John MacKinnon, Terry Casper, and myself, with the first tiebreaker giving the title to yours truly. Complete scoring results are below. Congratulations to all the winners, and thanks again to all those who participated. Tiebreaker notes: The first tiebreaker was the difference between your predicted championship-game score and the actual score. Thus, if you picked the score of the ECAC championship game (actually 3-1) to be 4-2, you would get two points; if you picked 5-0, you would get three points; and if you picked 2-1, you would get one point. Obviously, the lower the point score the better. The second tiebreaker was the difference between your predicted total of goals scored in the tournament and the actual number. Again, the lower the point total the better. As far as tiebreakers that were actually needed: For the ECAC, the championship game score was 4-3. For Hockey East, the championship game score was 3-1. For the WCHA, the championship game score was 5-2 and the total goals scored in the tournament was 94. For the MAAC, the championship game score was 6-4, and the total goals scored in the tournament was 50. For the CHA, the championship game score was 5-4. The USCHO prognosticators' numbers are included below, as are the "Higher Seed" picks showing what would have happened if the higher seed for each game had been picked to win.
