Story of this game was definitely Duke Shegos. In a reversal of last night's game in which UNO took the brunt of the penalties, BU ended up with numerous penalties tonight, giving UNO one 5-minute power play (and the offender was given the ole' heave ho) and 2 5-on-3's, including the deciding one in OT. That said, the two OT penalties, especially the 2nd one (intentionally knocking the net off by Meyer), were probably 2 of the easiest calls a ref will ever make in OT. The slashing call occured when the BU player sent the UNO player's stick flying across the ice when he missed the leg and hit the stick instead. And what the hell was Meyer of BU thinking when he knocked the net off. Granted the puck hit high off the glass and was going to either land in the crease or hit the goalie in the back and possibly trickle in, both of which would've been bad for BU and good for UNO. But Meyer didn't even try to make it look accidental. He skated to the crease calmly, took both hands, put them on the crossbar, and shoved the net up and back. All while Duke Shegos was standing 5 feet away looking straight at the net. I was surprised Kemp took the penalty over the penalty shot on the delay of game, given that UNO desperatly needed a win to regain confidence and re-establish a home ice edge. I guess he felt 30 seconds of 5v3 would have a better shot of paying off than the 1-in-4 chance of a penalty shot. And if BU hadn't already had one man in the box, I bet he takes the penalty shot instead. But his call worked, as Greg Zanon let loose his 98 mph slapshot from the point just as the 1st penalty ended and won it for UNO.
