Yes.  And Confucius did believe in hate.

I prefer Mo tzu, who, when asked the question, "what is the way of universal
love and mutual benefit" answered,

"It is to regard other people's country as ones own.  Regard other people's
families as ones own.  Regard other people's person as ones own."


Then, even though there may be criticism, the problem of hate does not
arise.
