You didn’t miss it! Last Thursday’s lecture has been rescheduled and will
be held at the Higher Education Center. Hope you can come.

*Thursday, April 28, Noon -1PM American Girl: Identity, Culture and
Empowerment *

Sarah Hentges, Assistant Professor of American Studies, UMA

Who are American girls? From Miley to *Mean Girls*, *Glee *to goth, sex
symbol to dutiful daughter, American girls are diverse as well as exploited
… and underestimated. Drawing upon her research and teaching, Dr. Hentges
asks us to consider how we might begin to see the richness of American girls
by better understanding the importance of identity and culture in girls'
individual and collective development.
