There is currently a major optical network outage centered in Portland.  At
present, this is causing widespread outages on the USM and Gorham campuses,
and impacting schools and libraries that are connected to Portland optical
equipment, primarily locations in the Portland are.  At this time work to
assess the cause is under way and no estimate to service restoration is
available.  More information will be provided as soon as it is available.
