Where: REMINDER: UMS System-wide
Start: 01/07/2018 12:00 am
End: 01/07/2018 10:00 am
Scope: Telephony at all campuses

Summary:
This is a reminder of previously announced System-wide UCM maintenance affecting telephony at ALL campuses.

What is it – Cisco Unified Communications Manager (UCM) is the call control processing application that manages all incoming and outgoing phone calls on every major campus within UMS. It also controls all phones on the UMM, UMFK, UM and UMA campuses.

Minimizing the impact – Outages are unavoidable and necessary in order to complete the upgrade, however, steps have been taken to try to lessen these outages. All crucial phones, gateways, and routers have been registered to one subscriber server. The plan is to upgrade all other servers before this one. Once all other servers are complete this last subscriber will be upgraded. If all goes as planned, the only downtime seen by these crucial devices will be when this server is rebooting once it’s completed its upgrade. During that time these crucial devices will re-register with other servers that have already been upgraded.

Verifying the upgrade – US:IT staff will verify telephony services once the upgrade is complete. This includes, but is not limited to, testing calls to and from UMS campuses, testing helpdesk and other queues, testing voicemail, testing attendant consoles, etc….
