**What is happening?**
On Sunday, May 3, 2020, from 7 a.m. - 9 a.m., Data Center Operations will
be performing a firmware upgrade on the Portland data center UCS equipment
(fabric interconnects, blade chassis, blade servers, management platform),
all of which provides the backing for VMware hosts at that location.  The
upgrade process is not expected to cause any disruption in service due to
the active/standby configuration of the equipment.

**Why is this work necessary?**

This firmware upgrade will provide feature updates as well as security
fixes for the UCS platform hardware.

**What happens if this work is unsuccessful?**

If the upgrade process is unsuccessful the UCS platform hardware will
automatically revert to a backup version of firmware.
