There was a lightning strike between Lewiston and Portland at about
5:20pm that has damaged a fiber cable that our primary north/south
connection runs over.

All dual homed location rerouted automatically and our Portland/Bangor
traffic failed over to the backup link.   We had to manually reroute a
few  single-homed locations around the damaged fiber which we has
completed within a couple of hours.


Crews are in the process of repairing the fiber with a expected
completion around 11:30 pm.  The repair work seems to be causing
problems for Oxford Networks which is affecting one of our two gigabit
connections to Cambridge.  (Oxford Networks and others use strands in
the same damaged fiber optic cable.)
