Just to provide an update, it is confirmed that the optical span that
encountered issues today was the same span that encountered issues on June
29th. However, it is not clear that the two events had the same cause at
this point, as other characteristics of the issue in this instance were
different and the span is long, but work is ongoing to make a
determination. Regarding the failover referenced, we are on a different
path now (it is not a backup per se, just a different one), and will remain
there with no plan at this point to change that, so no additional outage
for purposes of changing paths is expected at this time.

If further details regarding this outage become available we will provide
additional updates. Any planned changes that might happen as a consequence
of this event in the future will be communicated via maintenance
notifications as usual.

Thank you.
