I am hoping that this information will be helpful to those who want to stop the receipt of the unsolicited books from L. Ron Hubbard.

Last June the SMLD office received an unsolicited and unwanted shipment of books from Bridge Communications which distributes the L. Ron Hubbard books. I tracked down the contact information for the company to tell them we didn't want their books and to get our address taken off their mailing list. Here is the email that was sent to me:

"Dear Ms Ney,

Thank you for message alerting me to this situation.

I have taken your address off the mailing list.

If you have not been able to send the books back yet, let me know the correct address, contact name and number and I can have my shipping department get FedEx to pick them up.

The books are very valuable and I do not want them to go to waste.

I will pick these up right away if you have not been able to arrange this.

Best regards,

Mr. Larry Perras
Library Distribution Manager
Bridge Publications

Los Angeles, California 90022

I had already gotten rid of the books so they didn't go back to the company. In a follow up email I told him that many other libraries simply put the books in the recycling bin or book sales. He then told me that they would consider adjusting their mailing procedures, but I guess they didn't.

If you wish to contact Mr. Perras his email is [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
