Did you know that Reading Round-Up has a Facebook page? Like us to stay up
to date on conference happenings and more news about children's literature.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Maine-Reading-Round-Up
Also, in case you missed it, registration for Reading Round-Up 2013 is
(finally!) available at
http://evanced.info/maine/evanced/eventcalendar.asp?libnum=0. Navigate to
April 11, 2013 on the calendar for the link. Thank you for your patience
as the committee worked to put the finishing touches on what we think is
one of our finest programs to date. For the same price of $65, you will be
treated to our amazing keynote speaker, Kate Messner, along with the
winners of the Katahdin Award and the Lupine Awards. There are workshops
for every librarian who works with children and/or young adults, and this
year you will have the option of choosing 3 workshops rather than only 2.
Registration will be open to library staff until February 15, 2013. If
there are spaces available at that time, we will open the registration to
people who do not work in libraries.
Please join us at the Augusta Civic Center on April 11, 2013. Whether
you've been coming for 24 years or you're a first-timer, we know this will
be a fabulous day for Maine's community of librarians.
And while you're waiting for Reading Round-Up to occur, why not participate
in Take Your Child to the Library Day? This year's event happens on
February 2. It can be as low-key as you want (such as make-and-take crafts
or a story time) or more involved. I am planning on dressing up as a
dinosaur for my event. For more information, including how to get a free
20 page resource booklet, visit the blog here
http://takeyourchildtothelibrary.blogspot.com/.
Hope you all are well!
Sam
