Reference and Interlibrary Loan Librarian

Bangor Public Library seeks an innovative, collaborative, and
service-oriented person for the position of Reference and Interlibrary Loan
Librarian to help continue the library’s history of outstanding reference
service while exploring and implementing new approaches to reference
service and collection development.

This position will be primarily responsible for providing services to our
adult patrons, including reference, reader’s advisory, and programs
designed specifically for underserved adult populations. The Bangor Public
Library is an Area Research and Reference Center (ARRC) that provides
interlibrary loan services to libraries in Aroostook, Hancock, Knox,
Penobscot, Piscataquis, Waldo, and Washington counties. BPL facilitates
instate borrowing and resource sharing as well as out of state loans via
OCLC’s WorldShare. This position serves as the lead for the Reference
Department’s role within the library’s interlibrary loan functions and is
the primary liaison between the borrowing and lending libraries.

This is a 37.5-hour-per-week salaried position that participates in the
evening and weekend rotations of the Reference Department. This position
has no supervisory duties, but may engage in project work which involves
leading or guiding the work of others. This position reports to the Head of
the Reference Department.

The salary for this position ranges from more than $46,000 per year to just
under $62,000 per year. Staff typically see cost-of-living adjustments at
the start of each fiscal year, which has the effect of raising that cap.
Newer staff are eligible for additional pay increases until they reach the
salary cap for their pay rank. The Bangor Public Library offers health
insurance, 403(b) plan contributions, disability insurance, and other
employee benefits.

*To Apply:* Please read the full job description on the library's website
before applying. Applicants should email a cover letter, resume, and a list
of three references to Business Manager, Tina Hustus
[log in to unmask] in a PDF or RTF format, with "Reference &
Interlibrary Loan Librarian" in the subject line. The deadline for
applications is December 18, 2022.
