Yup, she called here yesterday afternoon and I happened to be at the front
desk so I got the call. We had a great bit of Inception-esque back and forth
where we both called each other by "first name" and then I asked her several
different ways to tell me exactly what number she wanted and from which
printer and where on the copier it was found and how many digits, etc--
before I finally asked her to repeat where she was calling from. Immediate
hangup. Oh, Katie, don't be like that . . .

This scam works well with big companies with accounts payable departments.
They want to send you unsolicited toner and then will bill you for what they
send.

In a large organization, people are less inclined to question where the
delivery came from or why the order was placed and send the bill off to A/P
for payment.

The worst thing that is going to happen is you are going to get a bunch of
overpriced toner sent your way and you can refuse delivery or return to
sender without paying postage.

If you are getting bugged by telemarketers or scammers, forward the calls or
refer them to your "office manager" Lenny.  The number to call is:
1-347-514-7296.

Lenny is an automated system that will allow you the satisfaction of knowing
that you pulled one over on the bad guys.  Try it yourself if you want a
laugh.

She's called here twice in the last couple of weeks.  All she ever wants is
the model number of the copier.  I figure they can find that out by walking
in, so why not say.  Anything more specific they don't get.

She's called me twice so far this afternoon, sounding like two different
women.  The first time she introduced herself & asked for numbers off the
front of my copier.  I asked what copier.  She said "The big free-standing
one." I asked "What kind?"  She hung up.The second Katie introduced herself
& I told her she'd just called me.  She hung up.Unless someone has
information to persuade me otherwise, I'm treating the calls as spam or
