Front-facing, customer service oriented Library Assistant position
available with Turner Public Library, a Maine small-community library
located approximately half-way between Augusta and Portland. Turner Public
Library is a foundation-supported, charitable organization serving a
community of approximately 6,000 residents, plus two adjacent communities
and the local school district. Located on the campus of MSAD 52, TPL serves
as a conduit for knowledge, learning, and social connection. We are looking
to augment our staff with the right person to help us continue our mission
of providing an enriching experience to all who visit.

The position of Library Assistant is responsible for materials circulation,
patron assistance with library collections, technology, and reference
questions, collection maintenance tasks, and patron communications
including social media postings and website maintenance. The successful
candidate will have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, with an
Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Customer service experience in
retail, administration, or previous library experience is a must as this
position represents the library to patrons. Basic computer skills
including Office Suite, internet searches, and social media platforms
required, with additional experience preferred. Experience with volunteer,
community-focused organizations a plus.

Hours: 10 hours per week, Tuesdays and Thursday (5 hours each day), with
some additional hours on Fridays and Saturdays available on an as needed
basis. The ideal candidate will be available to work until 7pm, although
some flexibility is possible.

Compensation: $11.00 per hours (increasing to $12.00 in accordance with
Maine law in 2020).
