Hi everybody!
We're having a mushroom hunting program (Wild Mushroom Hunting in Maine: Spring Season) hosted by the Mushroom Hunting Foundation! The Mushroom Hunting Foundation teaches people how to safely enjoy their own local edible mushroom species. With an amazing slideshow of their own photography, Ryan and Emily will explain the science and safety rules of mushroom hunting, and the astonishingly diverse and colorful fungi found in the woods here. They will explain in depth about certain spring-season species that are "safe for beginners" to identify and cook with.
If your patrons have any interest (we've certainly noticed mushroom foraging materials go out regularly here at Wells), feel free to let them know! I can also send over a poster for any who are interested in letting their patrons know. The event is this Thursday evening at 5:30, in the Wells Public Library community room. No registration is necessary.
