Albert Church Brown Memorial Library had an excellent speaker last
weekend, Tom Parent from China (Maine), who's retiring this spring from his
position as head of the Northeastern Forest Fire Protection Compact. Tom
does an informational presentation on historical forest fires, most but not
all in Maine, and the development of fire-fighting agencies and methods.
Don't expect harrowing tales of how he almost got burned alive, though some
of his slides are on the scary side; but I hope you'll get at least one
story about Herbie the cat.
Tom offered to share his information at no charge to any library's
interested audience. You can reach him at [log in to unmask]
