Hello,

I am the volunteer Library Administrator at Holy Cross School in South Portland and am a new subscriber to MELIBS. We would like to automate our LIbrary of 5,000 books this Spring/Summer. Our library is 5 years old and we are still using the book pocket and card system :) We are a K-8 school with 150 students. Because of our size and no IT dept. I think an Open Source system is probably the way to go. I am looking at Library World but there are some limitations and restrictions that I am concerned about. Does anyone use Library World and if so are you happy with it? Does anyone else have another suggestion that they like?

One of the features that we would like is to be able to search our collection by subject using iPads and having the kids touch a "picture" of the categories instead of having to type everything. I would also like to have a "user friendly" input screen when entering new books into the catalog. Also we would like to be able to add new books to the catalog by searching by title and NOT requiring ISBN#. Otherwise, basic patron, circulation and admin reports.

Any suggestions for other systems to look at would be great.

Thank you,
Jenny Hall
