Very important-- In case your library has not yet received this e-mail directly:

Hello All, As the Maine State Library works on its new 5-year strategic plan, a team has been assembled to assess the needs of local school, public, academic, and special libraries around services provided by the Area Reference and Resource Center (ARRC) libraries. If you are unfamiliar with ARRC services, you can read more about them below.

Please give us your feedback in this brief survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5WYZHQP .

As you complete the survey, think about the services provided to your library and patrons by your ARRC:
If your library is located in the former Northern Maine Library District (NMLD), your ARRC library is the Bangor Public Library.
If your library is located in the former Central Maine Library District (CMLD), your ARRC library is the Maine State Library.
If your library is located in the former Southern Maine Library District (SMLD), your ARRC library is the Portland Public Library.

We appreciate your response to this survey before June 20. Survey should be completed by library directors or staff.

Thank you for your help to improve library services for all Maine students and citizens. Deb Clark, Co-chair, ARRC Initiative Team

About the ARRCs:
In the early 1970s, the ARRC libraries were established to make basic library resources and services available at no charge to all residents of the three library districts, NMLD, CMLD, and SMLD and provide supplementary services to local district libraries.

The mission of the ARRCs focuses on these objectives:
1. Providing free library cards to library district residents for use at the ARRC libraries
2. Managing interlibrary loan (ILL) services; providing materials from ARRC collections as well as borrowing from other libraries
3. Augmenting local library collections with in-depth ARRC collections
4. Providing back-up reference services
5. Maintaining an office for the district consultants
