HI All, Just learned about a program coming from the federal Infrastructure Act that will soon accept applications for grants up to $200,000 to upgrade roofs, lighting, windows, doors, HVAC, and insulation for energy savings.

This competitive grant is only for nonprofit orgs (including libraries) that own and operate their own buildings. Solar panel installation is not covered.

Applications will be judged on:
--energy savings achieved
--cost effectiveness of use of energy-saving materials
--evaluation plan and verification of energy savings
--financial need

To prepare to apply for the grant:
--sign up for updates about the Energy Efficiency Materials Pilot Program https://www.energy.gov/scep/energy-efficiency-materials-pilot-program-nonprofits
--know your current building energy usage
--catalog your HVAC equipment (model numbers, etc.), ages and types of lighting, doors, windows, etc.
--enter info in the EPA Energy Star Portfolio Manager tool at https://portfoliomanager.energystar.gov/pm/login.html
--set energy savings goals and project evaluation plan
--identify community partners who can help with project

To keep up on energy saving issues for nonprofits see EESI website https://www.eesi.org/

Tomorrow, there's a webinar on New Federal Resources for Sustainable Library Buildings: Clean Energy Tax Credits . Register at https://ala-events.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_LFgSbSIPStukR7nZxUDtEg .
