"Let Freedom Ring! 2002" - A Special Grant Opportunity

The Maine Humanities Council is offering grants of up to $200 to all
libraries that hosted last year's "Let Freedom Ring!" community
conversation. Each library is invited to design a program, to take place
between September 11, and October 11, 2002, to once again bring the
community together in conversation to reflect on one or more aspects of the
events of September 11, 2001, and subsequent days, and/or the issues that
have arisen since then, whether locally, nationally and internationally.
Programs might consist of a reading and discussion, a panel discussion or
lecture on a relevant topic or a film followed by a discussion. A
consultation with the facilitator of last year's "Let Freedom Ring!"
discussion might be a good place to start, and Humanities Council staff are
also available to make suggestions. If you already have a program scheduled
you are still eligible to apply.

The grant can be used to pay for a facilitator stipend and travel,
publicity, refreshments and/or other costs. To apply, complete and mail
the simple application on the Council's web site, www.mainehumanities.org.
Click "Let Freedom Ring! 2002" on the home page. If you have any questions,
please call the Council at 207-773-5051.
