The following is taken from an e-mail from the Cultural Affairs Council of
Maine:

A gubernatorial  candidates'  program will take place at Maine Historical
Society on AUGUST 21st, from 5-7PM.  From 5-6 a social hour and reception;
from 6-7 presentation by Pew and comments on Maine's role in cultural from
the Candidates.  This is not a debate (and should not be characterized as
such) but a chance to meet the candidates and hear their thoughts on
culture.

It is, for obvious reasons, very important for the library world to be well
represented at this forum.  Please try to attend if at all possible.  Many
