If your organization uses volunteers, you should consider sending your volunteer manager to this conference on Oct. 15 in Orono http://volunteermaine.org/blaine-house-conference/ . You'll learn so much about effective management of volunteers and have the opportunity to network with many nonprofit orgs dealing with the same issues (background checks, workers comp, over-reaching or difficult volunteers). I have attended in years past and found it worthwhile for the low cost.
