The Orientation for School Librarians session that was to have been held on
August 20th has been cancelled, but we are developing a biennial event and
have a date reserved for 2003.  If you are interested or know someone who
will be working in Maine school libraries, mark your calendar now for
Tuesday, August 19th at the Hutchinson Center in Belfast.  Representatives
from the Maine State Library, the Maine Department of Education, and the
Maine Association of School Libraries will hold a free informational day for
new school library staff, as well as more seasoned veterans,
on the resources and initiatives related to school libraries.  More
information will be provided throughout the year or contact Sylvia Norton
with your questions, ideas, and suggestions.
