Topics for discussion
ARPA Reporting
Remember that reports are due at the very latest on June 15!
Thanks to the 96 libraries that have already submitted their reports! There are 117 libraries left to report. We will begin to send out automatic reminders next week. The report is very easy, you can make minor changes to the categories without checking with us. Any questions, email both me and Kimberly Clark – that way we can be assured that one of us will answer your question.

Log into the MSL Grants Portal at:

https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=MSL

Instructions and guidance can be found at the MSL’s ARPA website<https://www.maine.gov/msl/libs/grant_projects/ARPA.shtml>

Follow Up Report instructions<https://www.maine.gov/msl/libs/grant_projects/documents/ARPA_FollowUp_Report_Instructions.pdf>; Sample Follow Up Repor<https://www.maine.gov/msl/libs/grant_projects/documents/FollowUp-GrantLifecycleManager.pdf>t - PDF format for guidance.

I will begin the very log process of sorting data after that June 15 deadline.

Delivery Service – Price Increase

We were presented with a huge price per day increase from Freedom Xpress and are exploring options to make this workable for this upcoming year. The (minimum – as of right now) 37% increase reflects increased costs in staffing and gasoline prices. The $19.14 per day will increase to $26.25 per day – again, at a minimum. We are exploring ways that we can decrease that amount for all libraries but for MSL to maintain a 1 free day for all public libraries. this will only be a one year stop gap, so moving forward MSL will create a Delivery Working group to determine possible solutions.
will create a Delivery Working group to determine possible solutions for July 1, 2023.

MSL LSTA Five Year Plan
Survey results – Many thanks to all who submitted their input and took the time to comment. There were 135 respondents, from all library types. Your input will help us both write the plan but also consider changes to current programs and wording. I have posted the results on the MSL LSTA webpage<https://www.maine.gov/msl/libs/lsta/index.shtml>.
GMRI at MLA

Presentation on Connected Learning Ecosystems in Maine by GMRI and MSL staff.

Librarians across Maine are invited to become part of peer communities where teachers, librarians, and informal educators are connected to increase STEM learning pathways for youth. Working together, these Connected Learning Ecosystems (CLEs) are leveraging climate change as a context for engaging youth and families in learning experiences inside and outside school. This presentation will provide an overview of the program as well as shared personal experiences working with others inside one CLE.

E-bike demos at MLA.
Patrick Adams from the Maine department of Transportation will be at MLA to provide information and will have an e-bike so folks can take a spin and learn more about the program that will be starting this fall.
