Hi All, I have some exciting news. Our SCOOP purchasing contract will end June 30, 2018. However, beginning July 1st, SCOOP users will be able to take advantage of purchasing discounts from a new set of contracts through the Massachusetts Higher Education Consortium (MHEC).
See their brochure at https://www.mhec.net/wp-content/uploads/member/1TriFoldBrochure_Members_12_21.pdf

The Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont state libraries have joined together with MHEC to bring our schools, academic institutions, and libraries access to hundreds of vendor discounts on materials, supplies, furniture, equipment, technology, and services. There is no cost to join the MHEC cooperative and once you are a member, you'll be able to explore all their contracts with listed discounts.

Some of the vendors included in the MHEC contracts (to name just a few):
Baker & Taylor, Ingram, DEMCO, Brodart, ProQuest, Midwest Library Service
Better World Books, Scholastic, Rosen, Marshall Cavendish
Tucker Interiors
Movie Licensing USA
W T Cox Subscription services
Dell, GovConnection, Whalley Computer Assoc. (for computer purchasing, 3-D printers, etc.)
HP Financial (for computer leasing)
Ricoh, Konica/Minolta photocopiers
Office Depot and Staples Business Advantage
And many more!

Each member institution will receive annual reports about what they spend with various vendors so they can show their funders how much they save.

Member libraries will be allowed to purchase from any of the 55 contracts, not just the "library" contracts. As an added bonus, staff at member institutions will also be able to use the discounts for their own personal purchases.

Important--We will begin actively transitioning libraries over to the MHEC system April 1st by setting up a link on the MSL SCOOP page for libraries to jump directly to an MHEC membership application and information page. The application form will have some pre-filled fields to save you time but we ask you update any info that has changed for your library. Please do not try to apply to MHEC before April 1 so you can use Maine's special link.

We will also hold an informational webinar on using MHEC contracts March 22, 2-3 PM. At that time, a representative from MHEC will be on hand to show you how to search the contracts for discounts and answer any questions you may have on getting the most value for your budget dollars through MHEC. Registration is required, so go to https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/552278482371381505 and get this event on your calendar now so you can be ready to apply for membership, search the contracts, and use the discounts when ordering from over 500 MHEC vendors beginning July 1.

I will be Maine's MHEC liaison so feel free to bring any future vendor requests and concerns to me. MHEC membership application and contract questions should go to Jackie Cashin at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> .

I look forward to working with all Maine libraries and schools to strengthen their buying power and demonstrate value to their communities. I'll send out more details in March.
