Dear Friends -

I know that many of you will be traveling to Washington, DC in just two
weeks (yikes!) for COE's 2015 Policy Seminar. On Monday, March 16, one of
our guest speakers will be long-time TRIO Champion Tom Cole, who represents
the 4th District of Oklahoma in Congress. For years he has stood at the
forefront fighting for funding increases TRIO - even when others in his
party wanted to see education funding cuts. We are so fortunate that this
year, Representative Cole was named as the Chairman of the House Labor,
Health and Human Services, and Education ("LHHS") Appropriations
Subcommittee -- the very Committee that determines TRIO funding.

In an effort to continue to show our thanks for all he has done on behalf
of TRIO programs and students, COE President Maureen Hoyler is hosting a
private fundraiser for Chairman Cole on Monday, March 16. (The event will
take place during the lunch break that immediately follows his remarks at
the Policy Seminar.) Even if you are not able to join us in DC this year, I
ask that you consider supporting this event with a financial contribution.
It is actually a very big deal to be able to host a fundraiser for the
Chairman of the LHHS Subcommittee. (No really--other education advocates I
work with have contacted me almost in disbelief.) It is an even bigger deal
that this event is just for the TRIO community to say "thank you."
Therefore, I hope you will help us in meeting our goal of raising $10,000
to support Chairman Cole.

I have attached a copy of the contribution form. It can be mailed to me at
4853 Cordell Avenue #803, Bethesda, MD 20814 (with checks payable to "Tom
Cole for Congress"). Alternatively, you can just give it to me when you
arrive at the Policy Seminar.
