*Government Relations Summary*

As the current government funding bill (i.e., continuing resolution) is
slated to expire this Friday, December 11
<http://t.congressweb.com/l/?NAXWAENPMMPFHAC>th
<http://t.congressweb.com/l/?NAXWAENPMMKSNMG> Members of Congress are
scrambling to finalize a spending package for the remainder of FY 2016. As
one of the last “must pass” measures before the 2016 election cycle,
legislators are keen on passing a spending bill that satisfies voters’
interests.

But crossing the finish line by the end of the week will not be easy. One
of the sticking points is the Labor-HHS-Education bill that funds TRIO.
Thus, we must keep the pressure on Congress to pass a final spending bill
that includes Labor-HHS-Education funding in the overall "omnibus" spending
package along with the House-approved $60 million funding increase for TRIO
programs.

Therefore, in these final days of negotiation, it is critical that all TRIO
staff, students, alumni, and allies e-mail, call, tweet, and Facebook their
legislators to express their strong support of a Labor HHS-Education bill
that provides a $60 million increase for TRIO in FY 2016. Don’t miss this
opportunity to help restore services to almost 50,000 students across the
country by sharing this simple message:

*My name is __________ and I'm calling to ask that ________________ support
a Labor-HHS-Education bill that provides a $60 million increase for the
Federal TRIO programs in the final FY 2016 Omnibus Bill. TRIO is important
to me because…*

Please, take 5 minutes to share with your legislators why #TRIOWORKS and
the message above using the #TRIOTUESDAY hashtag via social media tomorrow
or by calling and e-mailing your legislators offices using Contact the
Congress (*MailScanner has detected a possible fraud attempt from
"t.congressweb.com" claiming to be* http://www.contactingthecongress.org/
<http://t.congressweb.com/l/?NAXWAENPMMWJSKI>).

Remember, that tomorrow is the *final* TRIO Tuesday
<http://t.congressweb.com/l/?NAXWAENPMMHRTUU> before the final deadline on
Friday, December 11 <http://t.congressweb.com/l/?NAXWAENPMMCDERI>th
<http://t.congressweb.com/l/?NAXWAENPMMYPLBO> —make sure your legislators
understand where you stand on TRIO!
