*COE Weekly Update*
*May 9, 2016*

*Announcement 1:* It’s time to celebrate TRIO graduates across the nation!
Share pictures with your students’ college gear, graduation ceremonies, and
more to commemorate TRIO graduation month with us! Take a pic and let the
first-gen community know what’s next using hashtags #TRIOGRAD and
#TRIOWORKS. Don’t forget to tag COE in one of the following platforms:
Instagram: COEWORKS; Twitter: COETALK; and Facebook. You might find your
pictures on one or more COE social media channels this month….

*Announcement 2:* Are you an Institutional Member? COE is pleased to
announce an online library of COE publications—Equality, e-news you can
use, the TRIO/GEAR UP Directory—for all Institutional Members within the
Communities of Practice.

If you have not yet seen the Communities of Practice, go to *MailScanner
has detected a possible fraud attempt from "t.congressweb.com" claiming to
be* http://community.coenet.us <http://t.congressweb.com/l/?DTBBGSYOKJJIGMS>.
From there, you can click on the “Quick Start Guide” in the upper right
corner or on “Log In”. To log in to the community site, use the user name
and password you use to log into the COE website. From there, you can
create a profile, join individual communities, find resources, read posts
from others in the college access and success field, and share your own
thoughts. We hope that you will find valuable information in the community
and be an active participant. We are eager to hear what you think!

*Government Relations Update*

Congress is back in session and preparing to consider the Labor HHS-
Education Appropriations Subcommittee bill that funds the Federal TRIO
Programs next month. So don’t forget to take this time to reach out to your
Legislators and ask Congress to restore the 90,000 students who have lost
TRIO services over the past decade.

How? Check out the 10 Ways to Advocate for TRIO handout (*MailScanner has
detected a possible fraud attempt from "t.congressweb.com" claiming to be*
http://bit.ly/10WAYSTOADVOCATE4TRIO
<http://t.congressweb.com/l/?DTBBGSYOKJVSJVO>) for more ideas on how you
can keep outreach going for FY 2017.

Contact the COE Public Policy team, Kimberly Jones ([log in to unmask])
or Selene Ceja ([log in to unmask]) for more information.

*Department of Education Update*

Talent Search and EOC grantees should hear in mid-July.

Upward Bound programs with a June 1 start date will receive a form asking
them if they want to keep the 3% increase sometime this summer. Their GANs
for 2016-2017 will automatically have the 3% but the programs will need to
complete the form to keep the 3% increase.
