*Government Relations Summary*

Things are getting scary.

TRIO will not be able to get a funding increase if Congress does not
#RaisetheCaps <http://t.congressweb.com/l/?SAFPBPTKKOFIVUG> for federal
programs including education, transportation, health care, and much more
before Speaker Boehner leaves Congress at the end of October.

There are only 13 days left until Halloween. Tell Congress the clock is
ticking and you are expecting them to do their job by:

*1. **Contacting your Members of Congress with this message:*

*Hello. My name is __________ and I’m calling from __________ to urge
[Senator/Representative] __________ to “raise the caps” on domestic,
non-defense discretionary programs and to support a $60M increase in
funding for TRIO programs as Congress considers a 2016 spending bill
between now & December. *

*As [Senator/Representative] _________ is aware, TRIO programs across
[STATE] assist [NUMBER OF STUDENTS SERVED] first generation, low-income
students and students with disabilities to prepare for, enter, and
successfully complete college. *

*I understand that [Senator/Representative] will be faced with difficult
decisions about the federal budget, but trust that he/she will support a
$60M increase for TRIO in the 2016 fiscal year because they are well aware
that, in [STATE], TRIO works!*
