The Bangor Daily News is reporting this morning that seven University of
Maine hockey team starting players could miss either tonight's first-round
game of the Governor's Cup, or the whole tournament all together.

Those injured and their status is as follows:

Dan Shermerhorn, SR, center (thigh) questionable
Jason Mansoff, SR, defense (flu) questionable
Trevor Roenick, SR, forward (flu) probable
Shawn Mansoff, FR, D/F (shoulder) questionable
Bobby Stewart, SO, forward (thigh) will not play
Jeff Libby, JR, defense (hip) doubtful
Nils Satterstrom, JR, forward (infected elbow) questionable

The BDN also says, Maine interim head coach Greg Cronin also came down with
the flu Wednesday and ran practice from the stands.

One question that comes to mind is, why isn't it mandatory for the players
to get flu shots? I imagine some of them have, but with the flu running
through this team (Cardinal had it last week rendering him ineffective), and
now two other players and the coach have it, it's only a matter of time
before most players contract the flu. Not a pretty sight.

It will be a tough weekend for the Bears. They'll play UMass-Lowell tonight
at 5 p.m., and win or lose will have to take on one of the top teams in the
country as No. 4 New Hampshire and No. 7 Vermont play in the other game.
