I will be adding the 1996-97 Merrimack preseason roster to the web
site soon, but for now, here is a more complete listing of recruits -
all of the freshmen on the preseason roster this year.  There are four
additional players besides the five who were officially announced over
the summer; the additions are due in part to the professional signings
of underclassmen Steve McKenna and Gaetan Poirier.  Merrimack lost
three other players due to graduation.

The new players on this list are: Drew Hale, Mike Rodrigues, Joe
Savioli, and Tony White.  Savioli played his high school hockey at
Catholic Memorial before going to New Hampton.
 
The biggest freshman, Drew Hale (6-4 215), gets the number (16) left
behind by McKenna (6-8 235).
 
Also, the captains this year will be seniors Rob Beck, John Jakopin,
and Daryl Krauss.
 
The Warriors' preseason roster consists of 28 players: 4 goalies, 11
defensemen, and 13 forwards.
 
Merrimack plays an exhibition game at home against St Francis Xavier
of Canada on Friday, October 18, and opens regular season play at home
against defending Hockey East champion Providence on Friday, October
25.  Both games start at 7 pm.
