After I posted last week's Portland Press Herald article, a couple
people asked me privately if I had any verification that Thomas'
suggestion that the Hockey East tournament was *included* in the
NCAA's postseason ban to Maine.
 
I asked Maine Athletic Director Suzanne Tyler about this today and
she confirmed that the NCAA's ban does include Hockey East, and that
they have known that from the start.
 
Maine has indeed appealed the added year of postseason sanction, they
have informed the NCAA of their intent to do so.  FWIW Maine will
also appeal the penalty stripping the football program of 13
scholarships.
