VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Peter Schaefer scored the
go-ahead goal 1:38 into the third period as the Vancouver Canucks
beat the Calgary Flames 5-3 Sunday night for their first
preseason victory. Markus Naslund, Andrew Cassels and Greg
Hawgood had a goal and an assist each for the Canucks (1-3-2),
who went 3-for-10 on the power play. Trent Klatt also scored for
the Canucks while prospect Steve Kariya added two assists,
finishing the preseason with a team- and NHL-rookie-leading 10
points. Valeri Bure had a goal and two assists for the Flames,
who wrapped up their preseason schedule at 3-6-0. Lee Sorochan
and Pavel Togajev also scored for Calgary.
