According to today's Bangor Daily News, the University of Maine has
received verbal commitments from a pair of Canadian defensemen.

Adam Tate, 21, is a 5'-10", 182 pound offensive-minded blueliner, and
Mike Garrow, 21, is a 6-1, 196 "stay-at-home" type of defensman
according to the BDN.

Tate has been admitted, but (guess what) must be certified by the
NCAA Clearinghouse.

"I can't wait to get there," the BDN quoted Tate as saying. Tate had
44 points in 32 games for the University of Cape Breton and the East
Hants Molson Penguins of the Maratime Junior A League last year.

Garrow is in the opposite situation. He's been approved by the
clearing house, but still needs to be accepted by the UMaine.

Garrow is an All-Star for Smith Falls in the Central Ontario Junior
Hockey League.

Both will not join the team till Decemeber when the first semester
ends.
