HOCKEY EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DAN DENNIS, SR G, PROVIDENCE
Dennis (Prince Albert, SASK) carried the Friars to two wins over
Northeastern this weekend.  The senior goaltender stopped 70 of 73 shots
over the two game set, making 27 saves in Saturday's 8-0 win to record his
second shutout of the season and his career.  A 43-save effort helped the
Friars secure a 4-3 win over the Huskies on Friday night.  Dennis ranks
third in Hockey East in goals against average (2.95) and second in save
percentage (.914).
HONORABLE MENTION: Marty Reasoner (F, Boston College): goal and two assists
in 0-2-0 weekend vs UNH; Chris Drury (F, Boston University): three goals
and two assists in 1-0-1 weekend vs Merrimack; Steve Kariya (F, Maine): two
goals and three assists in split with Mass Lowell; Gerry Cahill (F, Mass
Amherst): hat trick in win over Army; Mike Nicholishen (D, Mass Lowell):
goal and two assists in split with Maine; Eric Thibeault (G, Merrimack): 49
saves in 3-3 tie vs BU; Eric Nickulas (F, New Hampshire): two goals and two
assists in sweep of Boston College.
 
HOCKEY EAST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
CORY LAROSE, F, MAINE
Larose (Campbellton, NB) scored two goals and added an assist in a weekend
split with Mass Lowell.  In Friday's 5-4 overtime win, he scored the first
game-winning goal of his career.  Larose added a goal and an assist in
Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss.  He has four goals and eight assists for 12
points in 11 games overall.
HONORABLE MENTION: Tony Hutchins (F, Boston College): scored first
collegiate goal in loss to UNH; Greg Koehler (F, Mass Lowell): goal and
assist in split with Maine; Mike Souza (F, New Hampshire): two goals in
weekend sweep of BC; Fernando Pisani (F, Providence): goal and three
assists in weekend sweep of Northeastern.
