Hi All,

As part of a learning process for us all we’re going to be trying
something a little different with the way the way the Joebox is
managed.

Firstly, at this point you’re all running new enough of a code-base
that your Software Update now goes against our update servers. This
means we can let you start deciding when to update your Joebox rather
than doing it for you.

The other thing I wanted to mention is that when saving your JB
configuration, any time you hit the Backup button it will upload a
copy of the config to Networkmaine. This allows us to apply it on a
replacement unit in case yours were to fail (which we keep on-hand
here in Orono as well as in Portland).

What I’m getting at is that it's in your interest to use the Backup
button whenever you make a significant change (in addition to saving
as your primary config) so we can get you back up and running quickly.

Most of you (except the ones I upgraded today) have some updates
waiting to be applied. When you get a chance, go ahead and run the
Software Update on your Joebox. It’s found under System, Information
and Tools. Once the update runs successfully you can go ahead and
give your Joebox a reboot to apply the update(s).

As future updates are released we will post them on this list, along
with details of what has changed so you can decide how important the
update is to you. If something is critical (like a security update)
we’ll make sure you know.

If you have any problems attempting a Software Update, simply call
Networkmaine. As long as you don’t reboot your Joebox the updates
won’t be applied, so if you’re not sure it worked correctly (e.g. you
get a red error message) then we can jump in and take a look.

Networkmaine’s Toll Free number: 1-888-367-6756
Staffed M-F 7:00AM to 10:00PM, and Saturdays 8:00-5:00PM.
