Several years ago the wooded area behind my parents' house became over-run
by poison ivy.  We heard a tip on a radio program saying to sprinkle
powdered borax on the damp foliage.  It worked beautifully!

I don't know what borax does to the environment.  It took only one
treatment to kill the poison ivy.  We applied it carefully, and only to the
poison ivy.
