The solar system model that Barbara mentioned in her e-mail reminded me of a
similar arrangement near the public library in Tsukuba, Japan. Along a
walkway and starting at a point several hundred feet from the entrance to
the library was a plaque about Pluto. The remaining planets were placed at
their scale locations with the library entrance being the sun. Along the
other side of the walkway and also following a scale were plaques marking
the beginning of the geological eras(?).

Thank you to Barbara for making us aware of the solar system model in
northern Maine.

Tom
