Loraine, JBS now has a well defined mission. It is very successful as a
volunteer orgainization doing what it does. Its time, energy and money are
extremely limited. At the present time its very limited assets (read
volunteer services) deliver a very useful (and delightful) program to its
members. Let's keep it that way.
Once it starts trying to be all things to all people (and if adoption of
this idea is important, I can think of several others just as important) it
will lose its 'raison de etre' and start down a slippery slope to
nothingness because it will be spreading its limited assets over too large a
spectrum. It's acceptable and desirable for members to alert all of us at
any time to whatever might be of interest but lets keep the organization on
the (what has been very successful up to now) straight and narrow. I am
stringently opposed to the organization doing anything like this and if
necessary will make an issue of it. Joe Parks
