Hi Sal,

It is so sad. Another death of a great person. You might want to put up the obituary on the JBS site.

You might be in Alaska. Maybe if I don't hear from you in a few days, I will post this on the listserv.

Pat

I'm sorry this news is late getting to you if you have not heard already. Bob passed away on May 31. A viewing was held on Saturday, June 2 and the Memorial Service was Sunday. Marisa and I along with Ted and Pat Gordon were present at the memorial service. He was eulogized by both of his sons, Eric and Mark. Fanny and their sons said that the hospice care had made the process of his passing easier. Marisa and I talked with both of their sons and asked for all of Bob and Fanny's friends to help her through the next year which will probably be the hardest. Especially with Fathers Day approaching. Please give her a call or send a letter or card. The Gordons and I will be trying to get her up to New Jersey for some fieldtrips in the future.

This was Bob's obituary in the local Frederick paper that I found on the internet.

Mr. Robert Johnsson As originally published on Friday, June 1, 2001. Mr. Robert George Johnsson, 64, of 7422 Ridge Road, Frederick, died Thursday, May 31, at his home. He was the husband of Fanny M. Johnsson, his wife of 42 years. Born March 3, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., he was a son of the late Axel George Johnsson and Rose Marie Carlson Solomon. Mr. Johnson earned his master's in ecology from Northwestern University. He was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He was a museum exhibit coordinator for the National Park Service in Harpers Ferry, W.Va. He had expertise in astronomy, geology and botany. He also enjoyed photography and was considered a naturalist. Mr. Johnsson was an active member of Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Frederick, and was instrumental in the planning of their new church building. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Mark Jeffrey Johnsson of San Bruno, Calif., and Eric Matthew Johnsson and wife Connie Marie of Boonsboro; and two granddaughters, Heather Marie and Renee Nicole Johnsson, both at home in Boonsboro. Mr. Johnsson will also be remembered by his son Mark's friend, Grace Fong of San Bruno. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 3, at the funeral home. Mr. Johnsson's pastors, the Rev. John T. Morehouse, assisted by the Rev. Ronald B. Crawford, will officiate. Inurnment will be private in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Nature Conservancy, 4245 N. Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, Va. 22203-1606; Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, Md. 21702; or Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Frederick, 1301 Motter Ave., Frederick, Md. 21701.
