From the Minnesota Daily today I am passing along the following information.
"The team, coached by Wisconsin coach Jeff Sauer, is made up of the top 25
non-professional players in the nation. Any player who has played even one
game in the National Hockey League is ineligible to play in the Goodwill
Games." There are two former U of Mn Gophers on the team: Goalie John Blue and
Defenseman Todd Richards (older brother of USOF teammember Travis Richards).
Also on the team is Tom Pederson a Junior Gopher Defenseman. "In addition to
Richards and Pederson, four other native Minnesotans will play in the Goodwill
Games. Guy Gosselin (Minnesota-Duluth), Jim Johannson (Wisconsin), Scott
Sandelin (North Dakota), and Mike McNeil (Notre Dame)." The other collegians
listed on the roster are: Dan Keczmer (Lake Superior St), Scott Harlow
(Maine), Tony Amonte and Joe Sacco (both Boston Univ), Lee Davidson (North
Dakota), David Emma (Boston College), and C.J. Young (Harvard). The remaining
players are all playing in the minor leagues. Todd Richards is playing for
Sherbrooke the Montreal Canadiens farm club and John Blue played with the
Phoenix Roadrunners of the IHL last season and was a member of the 1990
National Team that played in Bern, Switzerland just over two months ago.
Assisting Coach Sauer will be Steve Cedorchuk of Boston College, who coached
the U.S. Junior National Team, and former North Star Ron Wilson, now an
assistant coach with the Milwaukee Admirals of the IHL. The roster must be
trimmed to 20 skaters and three goalies before the Goodwill Games begin, and
Art Berglund said a few roster moves are likely following Olympic Festival '90
  this week.
Olympic Fest TV coverage is on ESPN on a mostly delayed broadcast mode. Their
coverage of Baseball supercedes the Olympic Fest.
