On Saturday, the US National U18 team played Minnesota after coming off a 6-3 victory against Michigan at Yost Friday night. The first period was close in shots and play. It was scoreless. The second period opened up a little with Minnesota taking the lead 2-0. Again shots were close.

The U18 team scored early in the third team but play started going more towards Minnesota afterwards. It was 4-1 with six or so minutes left in the third when Minnesota took a penalty. The U18 goalie was pulled to go six on four. This was followed shortly afterwards by another Minnesota so there was a rare six on three. The U18 team scored with just four seconds left on the first penalty but this was waved off due to contact with the goalie. That was probably why the Minnesota goalie was on the ice and the upper half of the goal open where the shot went. The play quickly went the other way with Minnesota scoring a short handed goal and then two more before the end of the game.

The final score was 7-1. The shots on goal were even at 30.
