Dear Colleagues,

Happy spring! Below are the summer and fall GIS/ computer
mapping courses offered through the UMaine regional campus at Machias. To
enroll in the undergraduate sections (GIS 204, GIS 300, GIS 400 and GIS
420), students can just call the UMM Registrar's Office at 207-255-1223. To
enroll in graduate sections, students should contact the UMaine graduate

*UPCOMING UMM GIS COURSES*

*Summer 2022:*

*GIS 204 Intro to Satellite Positioning and Navigation Systems* (GPS, GNSS
and field mapping) Hybrid with two weeks of online asynchronous instruction
and field activities done on your own 7/18 to 7/29 *PLUS a required
on-campus weekend* 7/30 and 7/31. Students may reserve a room in the
residence halls for that weekend for a small fee.


*Fall 2022:*

*GIS 300 GIS I / ANT 521:*
Online with *OPTIONAL* weekly lectures TuTh 9AM - 10:20PM *PLUS* three
*REQUIRED* live sessions, as follows:

   - Synchronous for lab section 62699: Saturdays Sep 3, Oct 22 and Dec 3
   from 10:00am to 11:50apm
   - Synchronous for lab section 62698: Wednesdays Sep 7, Oc 26 and Dec 7
   from 6:00pm to 7:50pm
   - Synchronous sessions for graduates: To be arranged to work with
   student schedules.


*GIS 400 / ANT 522 GIS II* (spatial analysis, spatial stats & spatial
estimation). All online with OPTIONAL weekly lectures MoFr 11AM - 12:20AM.

*GIS 420 Remote Sensing and Image Analysis* (remote sensing interpretation
and analysis for environmental, municipal and coastal applications). All
online with weekly *required* synchronous sessions Thursdays 5:30 to 7:20pm

*Looking ahead to Spring 2023, we will be offering:*

   - GIS 300/ ANT 521 GIS I
   - GIS 400/ ANT 522 GIS II
   - *New Class* GIS 3XX Python Programming for GIS
   - *New Class* GIS 3XX R Programming for GIS
   - GIS 428 Web Maps, Apps and Services, 3cr
   - GIS 431 Geostatistics, 4cr
