Our schedule will be different this week and on into the summer:

Summer Hours at the Library: 

.       Thursday 5/26 the library will be CLOSED for professional
development.

.       Saturday 5/28 through Monday 5/30 we will be CLOSED in observance of
Memorial Day.

.       The hours for the Orono Public Library will be changing effective
June 1, 2016. The library will open at noon on Wednesdays, in order to
accommodate ongoing staff projects. June 1 through August 31 the library
will close at 5:00pm on Thursdays in order to extend town resources during
the months when library use typically declines. 

 

Starting June 1, hours are:

Monday:         10:00am-5:00pm

Tuesday:         10:00am-7:00pm

Wednesday:   12:00pm*-5:00pm

Thursday:       10:00am-5:00pm*

Friday:             10:00am-5:00pm

Saturday:        10:00am-2:00pm

Sunday:          Closed

 

Here's what's happening in the Children's Department this week:

 

Tuesday, May 24, Reader of the Pack 5:30-7:00pm

Koda the therapy dog will be here to listen to children read.  There are a
few time slots available.  To make an appointment, please email

Wednesday, May 25, Tabletop Gaming for Teens, 3:00-5:00pm

Game time with friends in the community room for 6th through 10th graders.
Popcorn will be served.  We need to end early this week to make way for the
Trustees meeting.

 

Thursday, May 26, NO STORY TIMES, Library Closed

              Sorry we can't offer story times this week as the staff will
be attending 

              the Northern Maine Library District's Spring Council Meeting.

 

Save the Date:  Backyard Bash at Webster Park, Tuesday June 14, 5:30-7

Our annual "Backyard Bash" will take place in Webster park this year as
construction of the new Village Green will be underway at the library very
soon.  We'll have Kiwanis  grilling hot dogs, the Friends of the OPL selling
watermelon,  lemondade and baked goods, and music by Miss Julie Monroe and
friends to help kick off summer.  If you'd be interested in volunteering to
bake or help the Friends at this fun event, please contact new Friends
