It appears to me that Hailey, itself, has a bit of a conflict as to its
association with its native poet. The historical society there has a case
dedicated to Pound which includes, in addition to the expected titles, some
documents related to Homer's work there. It also contains a note which
reads, in effect, We know that Ezra Pound is a very important poet but we do
not agree with all of his ideas. On the other hand, the Chamber of Commerce
lists the Pound home as one of the town's highlights.
 
In 1974, Olga Rudge met with me and others in Philadelphia to see the
Marianne Moore room and to make an impassioned plea for the same thing for
EP. She mentioned as one goal a combination retirement home and shrine to
Pound in Hailey.
