this recent extensive thread on ep's politics has definitively established
(1) that ep was not a petty bourgeois idealist;
and (2) his interest in ameliorating the plight of starving italians &
germans clearly demonstrates, to the complete satisfaction of bourgeois
liberals, his moral obliquity.
